Course description IBITA recognized Bobath Advanced course:

Neuro-rehabilitation has more and more emphasis on quick independence and locomotion in everyday life. This advanced course has a focus on the therapeutic strategies under the aspect of postural control / postural adaptation and the influence of the upper extremity (hypo- or hypertonic shoulder girdle) on the rehabilitation of walking in daily life. What options do we have to develop the necessary components of the rehabilitation of locomotion in the early and chronic stages and how can we build up these components for locomotion.

How can we apply this to Neglect Patients?
Problems, which occur in patients with a neurological disorder, will be analyzed and applied to the course patients (patients with hemiplegia and patients with TBI).

Learning objectives:

At the end of the course the participant will be able to understand:

• The feed forward mechanism of postural control in relation to locomotion • Postural Orientation and Postural Stability as a prerequisite for locomotion. • The role of the Cerebellum in locomotion • Be able to analyse locomotion • Be able to analyse locomotion and develop the necessary components for treatment • To understand the special circumstances in Neglect population and how to apply sensory stimulation for regaining locomotion. • To deepen and to improve the process of clinical reasoning in neurological patients.
• Develop and improve the specific clinical skills during the treatment sessions under supervision of the instructors
